Our First One Room Challenge!
Josh and I are excited to announce that we’re participating in our first official One Room Challenge! If you’re not familiar, the One Room Challenge is a bi-annual event during which participants transform one space in their home over a six-week time period. This month, alongside a couple hundred other home interior bloggers and designers, we’re going to renovate our main bathroom. We have finalized the plans for our bathroom and we begin demo tomorrow, Friday, April 6th! During the Challenge, I’ll be providing updates on my blog and Instagram every Thursday, and we will post our finale photos on Thursday, May 10 (assuming all goes well!). Follow along with us and the other guest participants and featured designers every week- I’m so excited to see all of the incredible projects, and can’t wait to get started on our own!
Let us introduce ourselves…
For those of you are new to my blog, welcome! My husband Josh and I have been renovating our home since we bought it back in April 2016. We do 90% of the work ourselves, from design to construction to decorating! So far we’ve finished our kitchen, master suite, guest bedroom, mudroom, and living room. This bathroom project is the last major project of our upstairs. This summer we’ll move on to our exterior (new siding, patio, landscaping, fixing up the sidewalk, replacing exterior doors, and adding an egress window), and then next winter we plan to tackle the basement (completely gutting and remodeling!). Needless to say, we have a lot of work ahead of us, so I hope you’ll stay tuned!
Our big plans
Back to the bathroom- we have our hands full with this project, but we’re not afraid of a challenge. We plan to gut the entire space down to the studs, including removing the archway, tile, linen closet, shower glass, toilets, etc. From there, we will tile the tub surround and floor, add beadboard to the walls, replace the vanity/light fixtures/mirror/shower & sink fixtures, build a new linen closet, replace the door and trim, paint the whole space, refinish the tub, and more. I spent some time creating a moodboard of the sources we plan on using- although it probably won’t be the exact same in the end, I’m loving the look so far!
Here are pictures of what it looks like now, before demo:
Blue textured walls, high school bathroom tile… as you can see, there is quite a bit of work to be done. We’re so excited to get started with demo this weekend and even more excited to get this project finished!
UPDATE 7/18: The bathroom is DONE! Check out the finished project HERE!
