Hello & welcome to Sima Spaces! I'm Laura, and I have a passion for all things design, decor, and renovation.

My husband and I are serial renovators, currently working on our second home- a 1961 four story split level (#simasixtiessplit). I'm also a full time RN! For 3 years, I ran my own design business, but decided to put that on hold for the time being- you can't do it all, ya know?!

Look around, leave a comment, and don't forget to subscribe to my emails so you don't miss out!

Progress update: the entryway tile is FINISHED🎉 Progress update: the entryway tile is FINISHED🎉 it has been over a year since we started demo on our entryway… over a year since we’ve had a finished floor 💀 this tile project might be the last one we ever do😅 herringbone slate is no joke!!! But I am so excited to share that it is officially DONE and now we get to move forward with the fun finish work down here… doors, trim, and finishing the bathroom 👏 Here’s to progress!

Happy Saturday! Somehow it’s been over a month s Happy Saturday! Somehow it’s been over a month since I’ve shared a post 🙈 I don’t really have anything new and exciting to share with you all just yet, but our entryway is getting very close to finished! Today I am sealing the tile and then we will be able to start moving furniture up and installing doors and trim. I would also like to paint our dining room buffet this weekend. It’s a gloomy day around here in MN so here’s an older pic of our kitchen with some sun streaming in ☀️ one of these days it will be sunny and warm up in MN so I can start on the outdoor projects… but I suppose this is my push to get the indoor projects checked off while the weather is crummy! What do you all have planned for the weekend?

Kitchen sources can be found on my website by searching “modern traditional kitchen reveal” 😊
We are home from our ski trip to Colorado! We pull We are home from our ski trip to Colorado! We pulled in last night around 1am and went straight to bed after a roughly 16 hour drive 🥱 Thankfully I’m still off work today so I will be unpacking, doing laundry, getting groceries, and an extra long workout to get my body feeling right after 9 days of eating and drinking allll of the things 🤣 We had an absolute blast and it’s always so hard to leave, but definitely feels good to be home and sleep in our own bed again! It’s chilly in MN but hopefully spring is here to stay because I am definitely done with winter now 😜
Happy St Patricks Day! 🍀I’ve been taking a li Happy St Patricks Day! 🍀I’ve been taking a little impromptu IG break over here and I must say it’s kinda nice! I have a couple updates for you:
🍃Benji the ficus (shown here) is starting to thrive and is sprouting more and more new leaves every day. I’m feeling hopeful that he’ll be nice and full again by the beginning of summer!
▪️the entryway tile and bathroom is taking us much longer than planned because honestly we just haven’t had time to work on it, between regular life events/daily tasks and work. No new progress to report!
🌳 it’s finally feeling like spring in MN and we are starting to think about our patio remodel! I will be working on the design for that over the next few weeks. We’ve agreed that we need to have a finished bathroom and mostly finished entry level (everything done except maybe the builtins) before we put any work into the patio… so that’s our motivation to get the interior work done 😆
🏔 we are leaving on a 10 day ski trip to Colorado tomorrow! When we get back, I also have 3 mini trips planned for April too 🤪 we’ve been feeling so burned out from non-stop house projects and I think a break is much needed to restore our spirits and give us a little energy. I can’t wait to work on exterior projects and get this entryway finished up, but we also just need to step away from it all for awhile, ya know? Life is about balance!

What have you been up to lately, and what are you looking forward to? Who else has fun spring trips planned?
The kitchen was clean so I decided to snap a pic t The kitchen was clean so I decided to snap a pic to share and Dexter really wanted to be featured, but didn’t feel like smiling 😑😂 in other news, while I was cleaning, I discovered that the sticky plastic wrap was still on the KitchenAid label on the range. 9 months later. Guess we need to do a better job of deep cleaning 🤨😂
